I decided to try one out. Fitment was very good and overall looks are good as well. S&B uses 8 layers of cotton on their filters while K&N's use 4-6 depending on application. I haven't seen anybody on here with this setup so I thought I would throw it out there. They retail for $270.
hey raptor...great first post .. i like that setup. seems like a fair comp between looks and price ..seems to be to be the best bang for the buck so far...i found one for $233 new...but now i cant find it again to check on shipping

I got mine through a vendor that I get my customers diesel performance parts from. Because he is a S&B dealer, he ordered it for me. I do a lot of business with him so I got a smoking deal. $233 is a good price. Hope you can find it again. I will post installed pics when my wife gets back on Thursday if you want.

We also had trouble finding the correct part # for the 6.2's. 07 and 08 trucks with the 6.2 use part # 75-5042.

i was having trouble with that my self..i thought that was the right one i feel alil better about it now..i still cant find that one for $233 but just doing a search on google shopping i found it for $218 free shipping..not sure how legit it is so im alil nervous about pullin the trigger

i was debating between the volant and the s&b..there seems to be soo many damn options with the volant its confusing i couldnt figure out what was what lol

i dont understand why there is a diff between the 07 08 and the 09+ thought they were the same

anyways i was tryin to find some solid numbers to compair the diff actuall flow rates,hp, and price would be intersting to varify them some how and make a sticky..soo heres what ive roughly come up with still have alot to fill in to have it legit but thought it was intersting for convo sake

bank system....$358...up to 528cfm......39hp.......69ftlbs....seems alil fishy
s&b.......$218 to $269.........635cfm.. n/a hp
volant $279 to $390...........n/a cfm....18 hp........40ftlbs
k&n 63 air charger $258.......n/a cfm....17.55hp
k&n 77.............$317...........n/a cfm.....12.49
afe stage 2........$337..........550cfm......18hp.......15ft lbs

seems like a pretty big range !?!

Positive crankcase ventilation??

They changed the MAF from 08 to 09. Airaid's MIT is the same from 07-11, but anything replacing the airbox will be different for 07-08 then for 09-11.

If i'm not mistaken, and please somebody correct me if i'm wrong, in 09 they started using a different MAF sensor, one that uses two screws to hold it into the intake tube. As for your list presented, good work by the way, I personally don't like cleaning and oiling process of K&N's. Its hard to get the oil in the pleats with a aerosol spray. S&B uses a oil bottle with a needle to get the oil where it needs to go. Plus I have replaced a lot of turbos on diesels that were running K&N systems, none on the S&B ones. There are a lot of variables there but farmers tend to neglect there trucks and with both filters caked with dirt, the K&N is the one that lets dirt by first. I'm not trying to dog on K&N filters, thats just what I have came across in the field. Like I said, this is the reason I decided to try a S&B out. Banks want a lot of money for there product and I seriously doubt that it makes the numbers that they claim. I do like the volant, but again big money for the nice one. Its funny the afe has more cfm than the banks but makes way less power.
