Another one piece driveshaft on a CC-NNBS goes Boom
#61
my truck (in my sig) most definitely has a 1pc steel driveshaft, and i bought the truck new. the driveshaft is rusty, a magnet will stick to it, and its pretty heavy.
at what speed should i worry about the driveshaft? i've had it up to 135mph, and didnt notice any odd vibrations.

I emailed a local driveline shop that typically does 4x4 shafts and race cv axles but I figured they might be able to do something.
He was talking about increasinh my u joint size and the yoke on my diff.
Is that really needed? Couldn't I just use the same slip yoke on my current shaft then swap the garbage aluminium for a 5" steel shaft and hi speed balance? Use factory u joints?

Not yet ... I was asking same question on a different thread but never got an answer... Soon as i get my 6L80E bolted in i will have the measurement but it maybe cple weeks before that happens ... Hopefully someone with CCSB can chime in and get a measurement .. I need to see if i need my cust. DS modified ... I thought i had read the 6l80e is 1 to 1-1/2 inches shoreter than 4l60e but i cant find it again.
