just order up the brandmotion rear camera kit for your truck. Then you just need to go to the dealership and have them reflash you nav unit with the tech 2 tool then it's all good!! On to the next mod!

ok i kinda got sidetrack with some other performance mods ...soo back to this topic..

soo it looks like i might be able to get away with half way cheap i dont really wanna spend 300 to 500 for a camera..i was hoping for 150 to 200.. soo it looks like i can get a fac style bezel with a CCD camera which is suppost to be the good one right? with the nightvision...wired or wireless for between 150 to 175. while reading this add, they say

"This camera can be connected to your factory GM navigation or any aftermarket monitor with an RCA input.

If you are using your GM navigation screen as a monitor it will need to be reflashed for a backup camera by your dealer. The RCA cable gets connected to two specific pins on the VSS harness. For a reliable connection we recommend you connect to your nav through a female RCA pigtail adaptor or Navigation interface device such as a GMX-550 Lockpick. We stock both the RCA pigtail and GMX-550 Lockpick and can provide bundle pricing - Just ask"

i tried to find the RCA pigtail but couldnt find one anywhere to check on price..soo i email them and find out anyone have ideas? i checked there isnt a RCA input on the factory nav to confirm that issue

heres an example..Backup Camera WCCD- GMC SIERRA CHEVY SILVERADO 07 -12 | eBay

just got an email back from the ebay seller....he said it was $20 for a pigtail..soo thats less then $200 for a complete setup right? soo any reason NOT to go this route seems alot cheaper then any other way of doing it....only concern i can think of is to do a wireless or wired one..lol

ok..i just pulled the trigger on the camera and pigtail..he suggested the wired over the wireless..and confirmedthat

" The pigtail connects to a couple wires on the VSS harness for the video input. YOu will need to use tap splices to connect to the pins but the instructions are included. YOu will need to have your nav reflashed for a backup camera or it will not work, which the dealer has to do."

also said that there about $10 cheaper on his website..at $164
2007 - 2012 GM Truck backup camera

and for the pigtail...$19.99
Install Wiring Kits

shiping was $10. so total was $195.. we see how this setup works
