I have a 2008 suburban that needed a new HVAC climate control panel, due to the old one locking up. After the panel swap, I'm having a few issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Issue 1: AC/Heat works for a while, then the air flow slowly starts to decrease and eventually stops flowing out of the vents. I can turn the fan on high and you can it hear it really blowing, but it is not coming out of the vents or flow. Have no idea where it's going (maybe out of the cowl).

Issue 2: When I set the flow to come out of the top vents, on the front panel with the rear ac engaged, the air flow comes out of the floor in the rear. When I switch the flow direct to the floor on the front panel, the air flow in the rear then comes out of the roof vent. Then, if I use the rear panel to adjust the air flow, it is also reversed - roof setting has the air flow on the floor and floor setting has the air flow on the roof.

Any ideas?

 

Used or new panel? Did you run the actuator recalibration once it was installed.
Run the recal first before going any further.

If it's a used unit it may have the incorrect flash calibration for your vehicle they are not plug and play.

 

sounds like a flash issue, who installed the panel???

 

The unit was new (from gmpartsdirect). I ran the calibration procedure I found online - where you remove the HVAC fuse, reinstall and start up the vehicle and control panel (letting it adjust for a period of time). Tried that several times, but no luck.

I installed the new unit. Will I need to have the dealer resolve the issue?

 

They are delivered unprogrammed. It has to be flashed and the relearn procedure performed before it will operate correctly.

To you nearest dealer you go and tell them exactly what you've done and they will flash it from there.

 

Bring old one with just in case they need it....

I wouldn't wait. It can damage the ac air and temp door actuators then you are out some real money to pull the dash and replace a couple of those guys. However based on it's age that's coming sooner than later anyhow.
