^May as well take Jeff's advice. He changes mufflers and wheels like I change underwear(every other month lol).

 

I'm going to be putting cats on my LPP's next and i'm afraid THAT will make it too quiet. That is why I would change to that HUGE magnaflow to still keep it quiet.

Keep in mind - that magnaflow was quieter dumped than my truck was stock - but not at wide open throttle.


^ I've only had 5 exhaust systems and 6 sets of wheels/tires in 8 months - that's not THAT bad..... ok maybe it is.

I did order my headers with the catted y to keep the noise down a bit and reduce popping. However, I will not keep the factory exhaust under any circumstances. I know it may sound badass with the headers but after getting under there and looking at it closely I am not impressed and it HAS to go for performance reasons.

 

Can you please explain that reasoning, because a 3.5" piping and a free flowing muffler don't seem to be too much of a performance hinderance to me.


You should probably buy corsa.

Edit: ANY aftermarket exhaust is going to net you 3-5rwhp. We're no longer in the days of inefficient mufflers that free up 15+hp. So I have to ask, is it worth the money? Maybe the factory exhaust doesn't look as good as some of the others ie., corsa. My thinking is you bought ARH, Kooks or SW headers. You probably spent ~$1800 on headers w/ cats so maybe spending another $1000 on an aftermarket catback is something you want to do. But for me - 3hp is not worth that much money.

 

Yes, looks/weight is part of it. I got the Kooks w/catted Y and a 1700 coating for 1350 shipped though, not even close to 1800. I can get a magnaflow catback for 530 shipped too so if I went that route it wouldn't cost very much at all. I guess it just doesn't seem right to me to put the headers on with the factory exhaust. I loved the sound of my GTO with headers and the magnaflow catback (I know it is different because of the true dual X setup) and a catback definitely may not be "needed" for my truck but nothing we do to our vehicles really is. I'm looking for a deep, throaty sound that doesn't drone at cruise, pop on decel, or have any raspiness. I've listened to some Corsa soudn clips but they all are on otherwise stock trucks and maybe it isn't like this in real life but they seemed a bit high pitched to me with maybe just a hint of popping.

 

I hated my corsa with LT's and no cats. It might have been better if I had cats and my exhaust didn't exit infront of the rear wheel.

I think a 18-22" magnaflow is probably what you're looking for.

 

Headers are finally here, but the y pipe (with cats) is still 2-3 weeks out. Ordered a Corsa too for a 2010 so it can bolt up to the kooks y pipe. I will upload a video when it is all on.

Same here. As long as it isn't really loud inside the cab I will be happy. I'm sure it'll sound great.
