4.10's in max trailering sierra cc

Gm build and price sites still shows 3.73 with max package, if you select 3.42 or 3.08 you must delete the max option.
US and Cdn sites.
It is odd that he got 3.42 with nht. 3.42 not really a towing gear.

For some reason when I was shopping for a new 2011truck in December ( ended up with new 2010) all the 2011 with NHT in dealer inventory had 3.42 ?? My 2011 order that I priced out was NT 3.42 as std ?????

Easy enough to double-check what gears a GM truck was built with. Just take a gander at the option codes sticker in the glove box . . .
3.42 ratio = RPO "GU6"
3.73 ratio = RPO "GT4"
3.42 ratio = RPO "GU6"
3.73 ratio = RPO "GT4"

My Avalanche with the heavy duty towing package (including trailer brake controller) came with 3.42 gears, in fact it was the only option available when I ordered it in late 2009. I'm curious which size 14 bolt your truck has. I'm pretty sure mine is the smaller 9.5 inch 14 bolt. Try Ron's for gears.

NHT is Max Trailering Package, available with and ONLY with the 3.73 rear gear. However, the towing package (not NHT Max Trailering Package) can be ordered on any truck, enabling the towing options as well as the 3.42.
Anyway, moving along: I have the NHT, so my factory rear is a 3.73, and I still have plenty of thrust despite the taller tires. I would think that with a 4.10 highway mileage would fall, maybe even lower than mine. Also, as somebody else pointed out, unless you are considering taller tires as well, your first gear would be rendered almost useless. Have you considered maybe 3.73s?

Yeah, my gear/trans/tire combo does seems to be pretty close to perfect; I never find my transmission hunting for gears, and I haven't yet found myself needing more torque (I'll always WANT more power and torque, but I haven't yet been disappointed by what the truck already has).
