Default 4.10 or 4.56 can't decide

I am running 22's 285/45/22 size. The GM factory wheels are heavy as **** (85# per wheel/tire combo). I need more getup. The stock 3.42's ain't cutting it anymore. Which gear would yall think would be better? I don't drive much on the highway, just around town to work is about it. I hear the 4.56 is really the way to go but not sure.

Thats a 32" tire. My vote goes for 4.11's. That would be just right in my opinion. 4.56 would be a bit much if you ever did do any HWY driving.

4.11's = approximately 2115 rpm at 70 mph
4.56's = approximately 2350 rpm at 70 mph

what he said,

I have had a bunch of 3.73's and one 4.11[08 6.0] and didn't notice a lot between them.
But a 4.11 is a long way from 3.42

If youre ever going to go with larger/heavier tires then go 4.56. I have 3.73s with heavy *** rolling stock and it definitely needs a lot more help. The 6 speeds have an even more overdriven final gear ratio than the 70e Im running. If youre going to stay with the same rolling stock then 4.10s.

I've considered 4.56s for my truck several times; it definitely would be more performance oriented, but drivability would improve as well. I just don't want to spend the money to regear two differentials.

Before adding gears on a 4wd, I would do full exhaust, a small tq cam and of course tune. That will go a long ways to adding some down low tq for when youre cruising down the highway locked in OD. Ive got a set of 4.10s and a 6L80e waiting to go in so Ill let you all know how it goes

I am currently running 4.30s on mine. 305/40/22s..highway does suck i agree..(70mph @ 2700) ...on freeway runs, I max out my rpms at around 5800...cam is my next step...

theres a couple perks, Take off is great, second gear is a beast and on 20mph rolls truck really leaps on other trucks. If you dont really drive it too much and not really use it on highways i would recommend the 4.30s for that size tire.
