2009 silverado 5.3 to 6.2 engine swap HELP!
#11
Your 6.2 should have 2 connections up front, one for VVT and the other is the cam position sensor, the connector on the back of your other engine is for DOD (displacement on demand) if you do a VVT delete on the 6.2l it will be a complete drop in swap! You will need:
-non VVT 4x cam sproket (06 and up vette ls2/ls3)
-LS2 chain and dampner/tensioner
-non VVT front cover or LS2 style front cover
OR you can just swap the non VVT parts over from your 5.3, You will have to have the DOD that your old 5.3l had turned off in the tune once you get the 6.2 up and running!

2011 Silverado 5.3 swap to 6.2.
hey guys, I need a Lil help. I have a 2011 Silverado I just completed a swap 5.3 to 6.2. My problem is when I use the ecm for the 6.2 my truck runs but it won’t shift and if I use the 5.3 ecm the truck runs like crap is there anyway I can get the 6.2 ecm reprogrammed to work with my transmission or the 5.3 ecm to work with the motor?? Both motors are vvt.

Tune the 5.3 computer for the new 6.2 engine because that computer is already programmed with your TCM in the transmission.
It should be a straight forward tune, it would be copying over all engine information from a 6.2 and putting it in the 5.3 computer. Someone with HP Tuners could do it pretty easy.
Otherwise the other option is trying to get a dealership to play your game. They would have to program one of the computers to a 6.2 with your VIN and program the TCM to the same VIN so it all works together.
