It could have maybe made a noise before it croaked but between the a/c and the radio it was all over before I noticed anything. I can tell you though that up until the last few seconds the oil pressure looked great dead steady at 45 lbs.

The dealer pulled the heads and after getting it apart it looks like the rollers seized on #7 on two lifters it ate the cam and the resulting metal in the pan went through the oil pump and ate the bearings. It lunched the number two bearing and had heavy scoring on #1. The new engine should be in tomorrow and hopefully we'll have it back by thursday or friday.

We picked the truck up a bit after seven today new crate motor ready to go. I got it home and looked it over very carefully I am very surprised but every last clip wire retainer etc is right back where the factory put it. They did an excellent job and it runs great. Time to baby it yet again to break in the new motor and should be good to go then.

Ive actually heard of this happening a few times but its very rare. Glad to see GM hooked you up with a new motor.
