2008 sierra 4.8 to 6.0L swap
#1
Hello, I plan on installing a L96 6.0L into my 2008 RCSB sierra,Have never done this before and have a few questions.
I have heard that I just need to install my 4.8 flexplate on the L96 and should bolt up to my 4L60E thats just been rebuilt with upgraded internals, Now I was thinking on keeping the VVT on the L96.
So do I just need to get a ECU and wire harness that supports VVT? and retune? will a harness from a 5.3 with VVT work? or does everything have to be from a 6.0L truck? Excuse my lack of knowledge as this is all new to me, I am mechanically inclined and wrench on my own truck and bikes and sleds. Does any one have info on this type of swap?
Thanks

Yeah, the 4.8 flex plate should be swapped over because the 6.0 ran a 6L90e transmission.
The E38 computer you have I believe should only require that you wire in the VVT to the computer. It shouldn't need a different computer or harness. I don't a wiring diagram though, maybe someone else can provide better information on that.
Then the computer would have to be tuned. For the most part someone could do a copy/paste with a 6.0 calibration and it would work.
