Default 5.3L to 6.0L upgrade. Need help with cam gear and cover

I have a 2008 Sierra with a gen4 ly5 5.3L with DOD and no VVT. I'm swapping out my 5.3L for a ly6 gen 4 6.0L with VVT. I'm looking to delete the VVT. I need help on what I need to get to make it work in my truck. I'm getting a Comp cam 3 bolt truck cam with upgraded valve springs.

You need this.

And the LS2 style timing cover with the front cam sensor. If the timing cover you had on the 5.3 has to VVT, I don't see why that wouldn't work, as it's already flat like the LS2 style.

Default Vvt

Why delete the VVT ? It is very useful.
we have heavy trucks, it will improve your
low end and not take away on the top.
Don't be afraid like everyone, it's not hard
to tune for a good tuner. I kept mine in my
L9H 6.2, pulls hard from bottom to top 7000 RPM.
on a small cam. it's my DD and tow vehicle.
look at my dyno sheet in the dyno section.
tech can be your friend sometime.

My 2008 Sierra 1500 is not set up for VVT. My current 5.3 has DOD but I have already disabled that with a tuner. The 6.0 has no DOD just VVT.

Cant you just add the VVT into your

I didn't know that was possible. I'd have to ad some wires as my wire harness has a three wire plug and not five wires to control the VVT actuator

Eh, easier to just not have VVT with a computer that was already non VVT.

So did you upgrade to a 4L80E in your truck? Thinking about doing that as well. Might buy a cheap 4L80E and rebuild it and have it ready for if and when my 4L60E gives up.

Mines a 6L80e 6 speed from the factory, won't need to do that with mine.

A 4L80e for sure isn't a bad idea though with a rebuilt 6.0 going in there.

I like my truck but I've really been debating doing this swap lately. Looking for a good 2500 that needs am engine. No luck yet
