2008 L92 with Ls9 cam

Looking for engine gurus for advise on advancing cam timing on this build for our 2008 Escalade ESV. As always I'm wanting more power, but hoping if I advance the cam 4-6 degrees if will bring the torque curve back enough to not make the fuel economy any worse and still make more up top?

I keep tossing this idea around as well... i just feel in my gut that i need to keep my VVT since it came on our L92s... but that being said im very interested in this as well my friend. BUMP

It will bring in the tq curve for sure... but you are dealing with a really early exhaust open with that cam and advancing it will only make it worse. By pushing the exhaust event earlier it will hurt mid range tq as you shift the intake event to help mid range tq... kind of a tough situation. The intake event will help more than the exhaust hurts... but what I'm getting at is that its far from ideal.

I had the cam swapped last week and deleted the VVT. It was really a last minute decision as was the TQ converter upgrade. I haven't been able to get an accurate measure of my mileage since I can't keep my foot off of it but it seems I'm at 11-12 MPG from 13.6 MPG average. They few folks I called and spoke with all recommended to chunk the VVT for more power. I enjoy driving the truck more than the vette. I heard a few 5.3s with the LS9 cam and sounded good but I wanted more. I'm nowhere near Vortec350SS power but I'm happy.

Well I think it is. No AWD dynos here, so I have no clue where I am at HP/TQ wise. POTS feel oh hells yeah. It sounds real lopey at idle because of the 112 LSA. I wasn't going to do the TQ converter but the shop quoted me $450 for the stall plus install and it sounded like a deal so I pulled the trigger. I can tell the cam and TQ converter are probably at their limits. I got a small TQ converter. I love it. I don't know what a VVT cam feels like or runs but I knew they wouldn't lope. Everyone said VVT cams can't be anything lower than a 114 LSA which wasn't going to make me happy. I believe if one cams something it sound rattle, shake and be loud as F. You seem to have a few under your belt. Are they VVT cams?

I appreciate the info. folks... I am thinking about putting it in straight up and bolting on the o'l Powerdyne supercharger with it and I also have a stock t.c... But I'll see how she does with the cam and bolt ons first I guess... lol

I have it in my escalade with full bolt ons and Hptuned and on the highway at 70-75 I average between 20-22mpg in the city I get between 15-17. If I have my foot in it constantly I avg 12-14mpg. I have gone through and through my tune and have it dialed in just right and it will break the front wheels lose going from 1st to 2nd. I love it. Has a tiny lope but over drives stock and idles pretty close to it.

What kind of power did you make with your setup? If I can KEEP my current mileage, I'd be happy. I keep hearing horror stories of how bad low end performance is with this cam.
