Hello everyone I am new to the forum and could really use y'alls help. So I have a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 LTZ with the 5.3L Flex Fuel. Well my truck has 187K miles and is beginning to smoke at every start and has a slight ticking to the engine and of course the consumption of the oil. So I've been debating about swapping it with another 5.3L with lesser miles. Now my main question is can I put a 2010 or 2011 5.3L in my 2008? is it a straight swap or is there anything I have to do to make it work? if I do have to alter things, would you suggest swapping into a 6.0L from a 2009 HD instead? If I go the 6.0L swap can I just do a straight drop on and do a EMC flash tune or will I have to do custom work? I've tried searching for this type of questions and topics and can't find anything. Please help me.

 

Im pretty sure any flex fuel 5.3 from 2007.5-2013 will plug and play. I know an l76 will work. Not sure about a 6.0 out of 2500

 

Both Engines are a direct swap.

07NBSChevy which one is the l76?...ezdaar so I'm only going to only need is the computer and a flash and tune for it? Sounds pretty simple or at least I hope, thanks yall.

 

The L76 is the H.O 6.0 in the silverado 1500 vortec max. Years 2007.5-2009 Somewhat rare motor. I think its 367HP and 375 TQ.
