Default 2008 5.3 Lifter question

ok i know there's a BIG write up about swapping lifters when you go to a CAMMED 4.8,5.3,6.0
here's my question, i need a Direct answer to it.
i will not be camming my engine anytime soon! this is a DD project in my OBS chevy. i want to know since im using an 02 ECM and a harness from Nelsons Performance. Can i get away without changing my lifters being their harness requires the 99-02 valley cover with knock sensors? they tell me i have to change them. im not doubting them, its just i have a lot of money tied up into this swap as it is. hell no i dont need to spend anymore lol. its bad enough im putting a lot of miles on my CC and its annoying me. i do not plan to spray this motor, nor throw a cam in it. its going to have factory exhaust manifolds, cats, a small stall, servos, shift kit, 3:73s at the LOWEST.
i need a direct answer to help me get this engine up and running and LASTING a long time(150k atleast) if i have to do the lifter swap i think imma just sell the engine and tb for what i have in it and let it set up till i find the motor i need to make it work.

thanks

ok. i have a 5.3L out of an 08 chevy CC for an LSx swap im doing in my 94 chevy(theres a thread in the projects thread) Nelsons Performance only makes harness for the 99-02 engine which is DBC not DBW. ok no problem, i have a 90mm DBC TB. our new motors dont have knock sensors in the valley cover like the older motors. i have an 02 ecm that'll work with the nelson harness. Jonathon at Nelson is telling me to change the lifters, ok no problem. i dont want to change them if i can just use the stock lifters. when you cam swap in these motors you turn off the DOD(8cyl to 4cyl mode) i think thats the name of it. therefore your stock lifters never know they have the option of the 4cyl mode. being that my CC doesnt have it and i didnt change lifters in it why do i have to change the lifters in my project 5.3?

I don't see the need to change them either. Ask Nelson why, I would like to know also.

if it have DOD and u want to install cam then u will need lifters and guides from ls7
otherwise there will be a valvetrain noise (like diesel cars) and you might have lifters failure in future since they arent the same size ( DoD lifters are taller )
after i replaced the valley cover+ lifter+trays my car became soo quite , no valvetrain sounds anymore and the idle is a lot better

another thing is : the harness you got from nelson is made to run which engine on it?
if its made for swapping LSx engines on other cars be sure it will run with 58X reluctor used on newer models

i already have the 58tooth to 24tooth converter so thats taken care of. i knew youd have to change the lifters to go with a different cam. but im staying stock cam so i can run it without changing the cam correct? if i do change a cam it'll be in my CC not my work truck.
the harness is designed for a 99-02 motor(has knock sensors) so i have to pick up a valley cover to put knock sensors and he told me to change the lifters. im not gonna change them unless i have to.

i know the DOD lifter dont like big cams although i have a rather large onw myself. with dod lifters.... as for a smaller 224 cam under 600 lift or heavy spring pressure. you will be fine.. afaik my 5.3 went over 40k with the stock lifters and F5 cam until the 918's broke

yeah on goi.net you said your spring failed causing the lifter to damage the cam right? i just want a stock motor, stall, shift kit, servos, gears, tune, LT headers, 90mm tb, no cam. if i decide to do a cam later i can. then ill do p&p heads, milled, 5angle valve job, 220-224 cam, NOS lol but its a work truck why waste the money on it??

ok so im able to run stock lifters w NO cam? i have a valley cover and knock sensor harness. does the knock sensors screw into the top of my block or just screw into the cover?
