Unhappy 2007 Silverado Misfire

Check engine light flashing and service traction control / stability trak on start. Truck also shift very hard into first and second gear and has locked the radio. Code comes up as a P0307 (misfire on cylinder 7). Just dropped it off at the shop, any idea how much trouble I'm in?

Thats a big ole shrug from me.

Too hard to really say, could be as simple as a spark plug or bad plug wire. Maybe even a coil pack.

Alot of vehicles can trip the stabilitrac/traction control lights when certain check engine lights come on. I guess you'll just have to wait to see what they find out.

Hoping its a coil pack and not a collapsed lifter or bad valve. Any idea what those would cost to replace? Might be time for a swap

To do it your self, lifters are cheap...60 bucks for an OE lifter if you have AFM.

Bad valve...now your into head removal...If you have it off you may as well do all of em, and put new guides and seals in there...300 bucks ish for parts some new fluids and couple hundred for the machine shop to true the heads.

600 all in I'd say...that's for both heads and all new valves, also includes a new top end gasket kit. (DIY)

If your paying someone else....not cheap

Hopefully not a valve then! $600 without labor and 200k miles on the motor, a swap would seem more appropriate. What is required for a 5.3 (LH6 I believe) to lq4 or lq9 swap? What about a realistic budget including heads and a mild cam for a DD?
