Wrecked my Truck!
#1
I rearended a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had a huge trailor hitch, needless to say my bumper looks like someone shot a cannon ball into the middle of it. These bumpers are weak as hell! His truck was barely hurt, had a few scratches on it and his back latch was broken but that was it. My truck is way worse than his. The lights are still good, but the bumper and front grill wont be salvagable. Good thing it didnt hit the radiator or anything serious or else I would be out of commission for a while. The guy apologized for stopping so fast, but I told him it was all my fault (which it was). I hate that damn turn lane anyway, people are always rearending other people at it. Good thing I was going slow too or else it would have been worse. This is my first accident which sucks, but I guess everyone has them. Now I have to get it fixed...I wonder how much more the paintable SS bumper and grills are? Anyone have any suggestions?? I will try and post pics as soon as possible.

Not to sound like a retard, but sometimes a wreck can be a good thing if you have the right hookups. I got in my wreck and I didnt have to pay the body shop the deductible because I know them well, and I got foglights that didnt come with the truck and got all my black plastic pieces painted body color.
For every bad there is a good!!

I feel for you. I hit some dumb lady in a Lexus a few weeks ago. She didn't know how to merge onto a highway.
Luckily, my truck faired MUCH better than her car did.
Damage (for me) came to something like $720. I got a check for $220. ($500 deductible). I figure it'll be cheaper to do it myself, rather than pay the $500 to the shop, up front.
I was surprised when I tore my front end down... the steel bumper itself was fine, it was the brackets that were bent. It's odd how a 1/8" here, and 1/8" there, adds up to a bumper twisted 1 1/2" to one side.
I've got to go shopping for a new bumper cover, license plate bracket, and air-scoop piece soon. Then have them painted.
Also gotta go yell at the insurance company for stiffing me out of a few parts. F-them.

I got rearended. Totalled the dodge, but I just bent the bumper mounts and bumper. I "persuaded" him that it was in his best interests to handle this without me having to fork out my $500 deductable. He paid. I got Xenarc headlights, SS rollpan, Denali interior trim, Escalade gauges. Stall and Westers with no more than $500 out of my pocket. Im glad we saw eye to eye

Ok, I just got my estimate it comes out to $1,313.11. Most of the main pieces are Front bumper face bar $279, Front Bumper air deflector $87, Grille $391, R&L head light mounting plate $35.60, R&L front bumper braces $32.10, $42 in paints and materials, and there is some more misc stuff and labor, but thats the brunt of it. Would it be possbible to get a painted front bumper and grill, I have never worked with insurance companies, so I dont know what they would do if I wanted different parts thas what they would be using. Any suggestions?

The insurance company just gets quoted from the shop and then when it comes down tot he work they cut them a check for their ammount. However most of the time you can work deals with the shop so you can get aftermarket parts through them and get different things done. After the money has left it's up to you. Some people work it out so they just get the money and pocket it but never fix the vehicle. Normally a very good way to have a shop help you out would probably be to spend a little more then what they got from the insurance and the extra money from you getting more will make them happy.
I personally don't know about all of this stuff but I'm pretty sure most of my information is right. If someone wants to correct me go ahead just guessing on what seems to be how it works.
