Which would you rather have!

I currentlly Own a 2003 gmc sierra EX cab Z71 that runs a 14.80 1/4 mile.
I have some money to spend like 3-4k. So I can dump this in my truck and run 12's or buy a camaro or TA, or GTO. What would you rather do.

and when you beat the camaros birds and goats in your big *** truck it hurts them that much more. I got the pleasure of playing with some cars this weekend and the look on their face was priceless

I think I will be close to 12's with 4k. My truck only has bolt-ons. I think with a 3600 stall, 224-224 cam mild heads and a good tune it should be close. At least a mid to lower 13. Don't you guys think. I will post some guesses and proces of what I think.
Cam,springs,gaskets- $750-$950 .6-.8 second drop 14.0-14.30
Yank 3600 stall- $695 -$995 .8-full second drop 13.2-13.50
Head work and good dyno tune $1200 -$1500 .2-.4 drop 12.9-13.20
price $2645- $3445
Should this be pretty close. Let me know

What r your exact mods? You are running a good time now!
Ok, the thing is, you need each of those thing to get the gain you stated.
What I'm trying to say is: If to just do a cam swap, and no tune or stall, your time may only improve ,1 or you will loose time. the stal will only give you .4-.5 and your right on with the tune. I think with those mods, you will only run a mid 13, if that. Remember, your truck is a lot heavier than others.
And I also think that is too much cam for a 5.3 ecsb z71....but who knows, I think a guy on here(trever1t?) did it, but he hasnt went to the track I dont think...
I would recommend a 220/220 for the max on a stock cubed motor.
good luck on your build!

A 3600 stall launching in 4hi will only net .4-.5. Well I guess I need to call yank back. They said that kind of stall launching in 4wd should easily gain 8 tenths. And also my brother has a 02 TA and put just a 224-228 cam in with a tune a gained almost a full second. Without a tune he still gained 3 tenths. But who knows I guess every truck is different. But I can tell you that I do have a strong running 5.3. With only bolt-ons I can beat stock SS and VHO's pretty good like 2-3 lengths

Oh ya my mods are custom intake, UD pulley, electric fans, long tubes, no cats, true dual, predator program. with full weight and on 18inch wheels I run a 15.2-15.40. with my 16's I run a 14.80-14.9. And that is only stalling at about 1400 rpms. So I think that 3600 will easily net a .7-.8 gain.
