I've laid some nice thick, even, dual stipes with my G80, but I know that I'm on borrowed time with that kind of behavior. My next planned mod is a Detroit TruTrak if I ever see what money looks like again lol.

Agree.. Michelin is the best tire for balance and ride.

Micheline tire4s are the best balancing tire I've had. The truck looks cool, too. But it's my understanding that there are 2 types of G-80's out there; the gov- loc one that engages with a clunk and the clutch pack one. I have the latter one in my Impala SS and have on many occasion wanted to borrow it and put it into the truck, hell the engine, too for that matter..............

I've got to disagree about the engine. Before I got married, I got the most I could out of the 100% stock internals (other than the spark plugs) iron head LT1. My car ran a best of 12.971@102.63 in awesome weather at an awesome track on opening day of 05 at HRP. The car had right around 160k miles on it at that time. It probably would've run a bit better if it weren't misfiring from the stock plugwires and Optispark... That engine ran VERY, VERY well until I started to mess with it...

However, it NEVER ran as well as my 5.3L did bone stock! With a few mods the newer engines are better all around than the old LT1.

The LT1 does make more low and midrange torque, but that is only because it is a larger engine. Up top, the new heads blow the old stuff away.

Not to mention they last forever. I've had mine for 2 years, and even the rears still have plenty of tread.

Hey Audio- I guess I forgot that part, aound 4,500 rpm up the LT-1 feels like it's gonna fly apart. But Below that it lumbers quite well. It is a PITA if ya don't keep an eye on the water pump around 89k it'll puke all over the distributor, making you need a new one. While the 5.3 truely is a leap forward(am I starting to sound like a politician?) I think it's a bit too much of a good thing; the woderfully flowing heads. You may have noticed that I'm on a quest of sorts to regain that legendary low end snap as offered by the iron- headed LT-1. Many have gone the 6.0 route on this quest, my plan includes punching out said 5.3 to 5.7 with a well chosen cam(I really am starting to sound like a politician) and a few other well chosen additions...............

My name is Mark and I approved this post..........

It was a sport bike of some sort - a lean down on your belly bike most def. Thanks for the compliments on the wheels. I usually choose function over form. When i got my truck brand new, I bought a set of Silverado SS take offs to put on. Goodness gracious they slowed the truck down. Not only that but braking was horrible. I liked the look but literally drove the truck 2 miles and sold them. I wasn't going to take that big of a hit on performance. Yet I wanted to be unique, so I found a set of grey painted steelies and had them powder coated black.

Here's when the truck was new and had 1,500 miles on it with the SS 20's:

Here it was debadged and stock chrome steelies on it:

Now that it's time for new tires (lol 38K miles only on michelins) I'm debating whether or not to put the stock chrome wheels back on it or not. I used to get races all the time with the chrome wheels on. Once I put the black wheels on I'm lucky if I get 3 or 4 good street races a summer. I throw a rev at a mustang or vette and they just glance over and don't think twice about it. With the chrome wheels on, it was instant game on. I think it looks slower with the chrome wheels, that's why. At any rate I'll stop rambling.

38k on michelin is nothing, I had 85k.

The SS wheels look way better on your ride.
