Default Why?! Drivers window motor problems!

I just can't get a break. I go to roll my window down this morning and it released this nasty sound like someone was running their nails over a chalkboard. So it seems that the window regulator is about to die.

So my question is... should I tear my door panel off and try to grease up the regulator or should I just throw the towel in and get another regulator?

Thanks.

find a way to get the window all the way up, clean all of your stuff out of the truck, wash it and trade it in

Hahaha! I just ordered myself a 130A alternator and now the window goes...I wish I would have waited a week before ordering that alternator.

Looks like my buddies at AA Pickup and Van will be getting more business from me here shortly. I did replace that regulator on my old '99 NBS and it was a snap but I got bent over for ~$230 at the "Stealer" for it! ...I had to get one as the window was stuck down, at least now I have the advantage where my window still sorta works.

The regulator is probably fine. The problem is that the spool that drives the gears is made of plastic! Yes, plastic. I had to replace the passenger side assembly last year. Took it all apart and found that the bare cables wrap around a plastic spool with plastic retainers. Way, way poor design. Best bet is the entire assembly with wires and slides. I bought from a "recycling" yard for about $100, else brand new from the dealer for about $210. I have also seen them on Ebay for good prices.
Hope this helps!
