I guess those superchargers don't like the heat.It was hot and muggy and the track was a little slick and I watched a silver lightning run a low 14 and left .4 at the tree.
I followed him into the pit area and asked if he wanted to run it.I have an extended cab 5.3 with rails and nurf bars, stock gmc alum.wheels.He agreed to run me,after it cooled down.He made me wait about 45 min.
When we get to the burnout area I dodge the water and just clean the tires with a short burn and roll.He lights em up and holds maybe 3or4 sec.
Radials are better cold in my opinion. We stage and I get the jump .108 to .507 but spin alittle and pump it. I'm out good and out run him 14.367 to 14.581.That is weak for a Lightning but he swears it'll run 13.8 on a good night.I tell him I'll give him another try after we cool down.It only took him about 10 minutes to cool down this time. We line up again and He red lights bad (-.347) but I chase the race, but not real hard, he crosses first. We both ran 14.4.@ 95
What's the score ? 1/1? I told him my score card said 2/0. We will probably race again. He had a real nice intake and flow's but I don't think he's running any programming. I had my hood up before both races,He saw the headers and heard the cam.He sould have looked closer.
This brag is kinda long but,I did beat my first Lightning. And at the track too.

Sweet!!!
I can't wait to get a couple Lightning kills under my belt too. I wanted to get one N/A but I would have had to find a bone stock one on a warm night me thinks. Ohh well, guess I have to look for modded ones now.

Ah yes, I didn't think about that!
I'm so accustomed to being slow I won't know how to act with some performance mods!
Speaking of the cam...lemme refer you to this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=183627LOL

Good job Jim!! It is fun beating up the former long reigning 'fastest production trucks'
I have been beating up on the stock/lightly modded ones for a while now. I am gunning for the major modded ones now. There is a local Harley truck that supposedly has a 800 hp JDM motor in it. He is going down to the silvy once the heads/cam project gets finished.

Another kill for Mr. Jim,
the 2003 Thunder Shootout Champion!
You can barbecue every single Lightning in Memphis if you wanted. Can't wait till your ready to install my cam so I can get back in your league. Try one of those Mustangs that make that same whine as those Lightnings next time!
