who has wired their driving lights to come on with brights
#1
been reading up on this in the electronic section and was wondering who has done this to the trucks. From what i gather, you pull the fuse under the hood for the lights and run a piece of wire from one post to another. If so, who has done it and does it work. Or is it diff on our trucks. I want this done to mine. also, who has wired all four headlights to come on while on brights? why spend the money on a plug when it can be done for free ya know!

Pulling the fuse and replacing it with a jumper will allow you to wire the driving lights directly to the high beam wiring harness without fear of blowing fuses.
HOWEVER, if you do this, it WILL eventually cause the main headlight switch to overheat and could cause a dash fire in the worst case scenerio.
What you should do is run both a seperate switch and a relay wired into your high beam switch. Detailed instructions are easily obtainable from Hella or KC Hilites.
Being cheap is the worst way to car-b-que your truck.

true, you bring up a very good point about being cheap. i know the fbody guys have been doing it for a long time and so far i haven't heard of anyone having any trouble. but, i would rather be safe than sorry. i guess i just need to spend the dough and do it right the first time out. thanks man.

I can't imagine needing all 4 headlights plus my fog lights on.
Every time I drive with my fog lights on, people flash me like I have my brights on.

where i live, it is dark as dark can be. no lights anywhere and the houses are spaced so far apart that their little glow doesn't help the street much.
