If you divide 1 million miles by 25,000 hours, that is only 40 MPH average speed.

If he averaged 65 MPH, which seems more likely, then he would have 15,385 hours on his engine.

How many "hours" do engines usually last?

You have to account for idle time, around town, and work/slow zones. On my trip to Texas and back I drove 8K miles in 2.5 weeks, mostly highway and only averaged 40mph, thats why I threw that number in there.

A normal gas engine life is @5-6K hours, thats enough time to go 200,000+ miles.

Who said he drove it maybe they just set it on blocks and put it in drive and set the cruise!

I guess if I could do that and Chevy gave me a free truck at the end of it I'd do that too. I wonder what kind of MPG it would get doing that. Maybe upper 40's or 50+mpg.

I have a '00 Z-71 ECSB w/ 136k miles and no trouble. Only replaced brake pads, fuel sending unit, 2 injectors, and the rest was normal routine maintenance. My '02 ECSB has over 142k miles and original everything except tires and rear brake pads. My best friend has a '99 ECSB w/ over 175k miles and still original, he keeps it well maintained, and drives the $hit out of it.

how are some of you with 125+ still on STOCK brake pads??? Mine were sqeualing by 75k. Of course I drive rush hour every day, 25 miles each way and tow too so that could be why.

110k on a 2000 4.8 here, completely stock tranny and motor

Don't know, my '02 still has the original front pads and all 4 rotors. The rear pads were relaced at 105k miles. I drive aggresive, I guess that's why GM wants $150 for pads.

my wifes grandpa has a 94' extcab with almost 250K on it ALL original. Stock belt, stock brakes, stock tranny fluid even. He changes the oil with penzoil 10-40 every 15,000 miles or so and thats it. His advice to me to make a vehicle last is keep your foot out of it, dont make fast starts or fast stops. I guess it works.LOL

I have the original front brake pads and rotors, my rear passenger side caliper locked up and I just replaced the pads and drove to work and got out and you could feel the heat coming off of the wheel. So I replaced both the calipers and rotors but if that hadn't happened I would still be driving on stock pads all the way around. I do about 95% highway driving...Zed
