Default Where did you get YOUR 6.0L?

I'm looking for one and would like a reliable seller and a quality engine. I'd like to know where you got your 6.0(LQ9 or LQ4) and if you would refer the seller or business to anybody else. Did you get a crate motor, motor from a salvage yard, long block or did you build it? Also, I've seen a lot of "burned top" motors, what's the down fall to this if all I'm using is the long block?

car-part.com
burned top were motors involved in a vehicle fire. If oyu buy one of those motors you will need to pull the heads to make sure no trash got in the cylinders through an open intake valve. Unless you can get one for a steal I wouldnt mess with one. I rebuilt mine ot a 418 so I bought a 6L that was burning oil. You may find that buying a 6L that has some problems with burning oil is cheaer to buy and get you a nice set of pistons and put in there wiht new rings and ahve forged pistons that can take alot more abuse may be a better option.

Do you take cash??

what part of Texas you in?? ...lol

I've never rebuilt an engine down to installing new bearings and rings, I've only replaced it with a short block and had the heads done...this was in my old 81 C-10. I'm lacking all the tools needed to do a complete rebuild, so that route may not work for me

I wouldnt buy a burned motor unless you were looking to rebuild. If you werent, bad thing about a burned motor is the intake melts. Fire dept will crack the hood and shove the fire hose under there. Water gets in the melted intake, gets past open valves and settles in the cylinders for god knows how long.
