That's what I am waiting to hear.

I know that the 90s 3500s (single rear wheel) have drums in the rear, but large drums and disk in the front, not sure on the duallies though. I still think they should've kept 4 wheel disk. Disk is more efficient than drums as far as pressure applied to stopping power.

The more I think about it, the more BS I think it is. Disc are better, and if drums were better, than all (newer) performance cars would have them, right? Nascar==drums, right?

They are just saving money, and the "passing the savings on to customers" is also BS.

It would definitely "stop" me from buying an 05'.

the main warrenty issue's were with the park brake assembly, but there was also a large issue with the rotors warping/rusting. personally i'd rather have the current larger brakes in the front and the rear disc from the SS trucks. only the standard gvw half ton trucks get the disc drum. the SS and utility models stay with the disc brakes at all 4's.

Had to replace my shoes on the parking brake after only 4 yrs. WTF!

And the POS still doesn't really work right. Probably needs some adjusting.

Sorry, had to vent after spending $70+ on those damn shoes.

OK, thanks for that info. The Parking brake on these trucks isn't great as mentioned, I never use my though.

I have no issues with my brakes after almost 3 years of owning my Denali. I'd much rather have disc brakes over drums, anyday.

I definitely think disc brakes all around is better, but instead of going back to drums in the front, GM should have re-designed the parking brake to use the pads on the discs like everyone else. What about the front brakes on the 05's, does anyone know if they are interchangeable???

They have problems with those design parking brakes also. They dont adjust properly unless you use the parking brake occasionally, and the rotors rust out from no pad contact, usually the back side. And actually, Ford was the first one to use the drum-in-disc wide spread on the early Explorers. I also believe Nissan used it on early 4 wheel disc cars and SUV's, and I know they had some issues with the parking drum rusting.
