What's worth more?

Are our trucks worth more customized or stock? At the dealer? At a independent business?
I have a 2002 Chevy 1500 with 27K miles. It has
-4.8 V8
-TB Bypass
-E-bay cold air kit with K&N Style filter
-Blackouts front and rear
-4/6 DJM drop kit
-18" Americans and Toyo tires
-ARE bedcover
-2 10" Bazooka subs w/ custom boxes and a 300 watt MTX amp
Let me know, I want a chopper bad!

The dealer will give you next to nothing for any aftermarket parts on the truck. If you go private party, divide what you payed for the aftermarket parts in half, and you have what they are basically worth on your truck now

Yeah that's what I have been told. Sucks doesn't it!
The Ebay cold air kit cost $50 and has a metal airbox similar in design to the K&N and it has a HUGE K&N style air filter. Only difference is that its blue instead of red. I modified it for ram air
.
Thanks,

just think though. with a trade, you save on paying the taxes. for example, if you buy a $30,000 truck, and trade in your truck (dealer gives you $20,000 for it), you only have to pay tax on $10,000 instead of $30,000. plus it saves you the hassle of selling it on your own. i guess you would have to weigh the pros and cons of both options and see which one works best for you.

My daughter recently wrecked my 2001 reg cab, short bed Silverado that only has 12,000 miles. The dealers body shop and the insurance company valued my truck at $18,000 "book value." With over $11,000 damage it was TOTALED! My truck is lowered 2/4, 20" Oasis wheels, Proxies, cowl hood, HID's, tonneau cover, tint, rear slider, billet Tahoe grille, Magnacharger Radix, thumping stereo, etc... The insurance company (State Farm) sent out a second, regional adjuster who reappraised my truck. This time they came up with a value of almost $26,000. Now it's not totaled. Granted they only "gave me" $8000 for all my aftermarket stuff, but it was the difference of my truck getting totaled and getting fixed!

They decided to use an appraised value instead of the "book" value. The second adjuster they sent out actually did an appraisal on the trucks value prior to the accident. The fact that the truck only has 12,000 miles also played a heavy part in the decision not to total it. The initial estimate was also only $1000 over the "total" price so they re-evaluated it and decided the truck didn't fit in the standard book value. So in my case, my truck was worth more as a customized vehicle than it was as a stock one.
