That was my next thing.... I have read also about loosening the bellhousing bolts and re-torquing the pan bolts, but mine didn't leak a drop of oil until about 150,000 miles so I am guessing they didn't just suddenly loosen.

Thanks for the info!

One drop of oil can spread out to a quarter size spot pretty easily so it doesn't take much.

If you haven't done an oil pan gasket do one of those next, they are notorious for leaking

Re snugging isn't likely to help. The rubber hardens over time and loses it's ability to seal, the metal border and the tabs on the oil pan only allow the gasket to get crushed so much, so any snugging won't compress the rubber any further.

You're welcome man, good luck!

You're right - didn't work. I am pretty sure it is the gasket, though ... in one part I can see the oil slowly coming through as the engine runs and I don't see it coming down from the side at all.

Thanks!

So if you put a "block off plate" on the oil cooler, what did you do with the oil cooler lines?

Mine never had the oil cooler, so it's just the factory block plate thing (actually a mis-named part as it allows oil to travel through it).

Now I need to figure out a good rack and pinion replacement, but that's a different thread ...
