#7 cylinder is the bad cylinder man and thats on the drivers side #8 would be on the pass side and I have heard of no problems with the #8 cylinder just the dreaded #7.

99 to me it sound like a lifter form that video it has a higher pitch knock to it which is exactyl what my 5.3 sounded like. I did a cam swap on it and went ahead and did lifters too and the noise went away. If you are strapped for cash and you can do the work yourself then buy you some lifters and swap em out. Its really not that hard to pull the heads just time consuming. If you need any help let me know I am a self taught expert pretty much due to my screw ups and so on

Change the oil and put one quart of marvels mystery oil in place of one quart of oil. If you just changed the oil, dont change the filter. If its a lifter, the MM will pump it back up. If its not a lifter, it ll clean the top of the engine. I did this on my other truck and in about 200 miles the ticking went away. Run the oil about 1200-1500 miles and change it back out. If it doesnt work you just out of a few quarts of oil, the top of the motor is cleaner.

Well it doesn't sound anything like my old motor so I doubt it is internal damage. I think I'm voting with the others on the lifter. I would give that MM oil a try and see if it improves. It may just be an annoying trait of the motor and not much you can do about it.

Is the sound more pronouned near the bottom end? Stick your head near the fenderwell and listen. I bet it's a lifter. I had a lifter(s) ticking real loud. I was going to change them out, but didn't have the time/cash to pull heads etc. After a couple hundred miles the ticking went away. No lifters were changed and no tick has come back up. They fixed themselves. The tick was much louder than yours too.

I might take another video of it cuz that one was taken just as it warmed up, but it gets worse. I cant really tell where exactly it is coming from, I even tried checking outthe topend with a stethescope, but it seems like it is coming from down low. If I take a wooden broom handle and put it on my oil pan, I can hear it quite well.

if you think it is a rod bearing pull the plug wires one at a time if the noise goes away on one then you probably have a spun bearing but it would go away with rpm well it didn 't on my car anyway. mine had a strnge tic when i went to arkansas i put in a quart of lucas and it seems to be better now.
