Question What fuel does 6.0L LQ9 use?

Does a 6.0L LQ9 use 87 octane or 92 octane fuel?

huh, the Vortec max trucks use 87 octane...LQ9 too, maybe there is something different? Nothing on them says anything about premium fuel?

My buddy has a 03' SS and all he uses is the cheap stuff, 87 and it runs just fine. Probably not as good as it could though.

Stock tune LQ9 will run fine on cheap stuff GM isnt going to tune something that wont run on 87 pump gas unless its the damn C6 Z06. The reason 02white6.0's truck wont run on anything less than 91 is because his truck is tuned to the edge as much timing as he can get out of it etc etc.

Owners manual says to use 91. It also says you can use 87 but the performance will be reduced and you may experience slight knocking.
