Default What does it take to R&R windshield and rear window glass?

I want to replace a cracked windshield and swap a sliding rear window for a solid one. What does it take to remove and reinstall glass? Should i just hire a glass company to do it for me?

Yes hire someone. That way if it leaks or something theyll cover it. At least a good shop will. Buuuut if u wanna do it yourself it aint that hard. Cutting the factory urethane is a pain without the proper tools.

Yeah I don't have any tools for it, and I don't have any intention of buying them. Sounds like I should just find a glass company to do it for me. Thanks!

Yes, just get a shop to do it for you. Do you have glass coverage on your insurance? My family installs glass for a living, and without the tools it would be a pain.

No insurance on either truck yet, the donor and project are not registered or drivable. I'm taking the glass out of the donor and putting it in the project truck.

Up here, most of the glass companies will come to you, remove & install the glass in your driveway, no extra charges.

Like Roger mentioned, Lots of reputable glass companies offer mobile service. Just do a quick search on the net as some companies are better then others.

You definitely want a good job and quality glass installed along with quality primers and sealants. You don't want to find out after the fact or have to call them back after it rains.
