Hey guys, i have found the truck i was looking for
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...000&cardist=29
4.8, 5spd, with power windows in white. Bad thing is i have a honda accord with on 58k on it. ive been wanting to trade the accord for something like this but 70k plus is high mileage to me
. what do guys think? If i go look at this truck what should i look for. My last truck was auto, what are some things to pay attention to when looking at a truck with a 5spd?
thanks in advance,
Bryan

70k aint too much, and on the tranny just make sure it shifts smooth with no grinds, also pay attention to how the clutch feels. I dont believe it shouldnt feel really soft but nice and firm when you press in the pedal. Just my .2

i bought my 2000 with 72K on it and it hasn't let me down yet...
Check all the fluids, shift the trans through all the gears to make sure there isn't a bad synchro, basically what you'd do when your shopping for any vehicle. When you test drive it, see how the clutch feels...hydraulic systems make it easier to shift, but you can still feel if the clutch is slipping or not.
If you do buy it, or check it out, check the trans fluid...like most vehicle's cooling system, rearend, trans are the most overlooked flushes to do and typically are never done.
Also check your e-brake if you'd need it, alot of the times their never adjusted, or are worn down to nothing. Mine were like that and i just said the hell with it and took the e-brakes off completely, i just leave it in a gear.

Not bad, I would low ball em on the price, you should be able to get them down a bit. A manuel can be hard to sell, even if it is what your looking for. Don't let them know the it is a plus to you, try to use it as leverage on the price.

like everyone else said just look it over good...I bought my 2000 with 110k and only normal wear and tare parts failed...I really cant complain seein I have 160k on it now...as far as the price...its fair but you can do better...I picked up my truck 3 years ago so my truck was 5 years old...this one your lookin at it 4 years old...mine is ECSB 4x4 and picked it up for $9000 while the one ur looking at is SCSB 2x4 and gas prices are at an all time high so truck prices should be lower than that...
def. use the 5 speed thing to ur advantage...I did and it went from 12k to 9k...let us know how u make out...

Man, thanks for all the info guys. Im probably going to look at the truck on tuesday. I believe i would rather have the disc brakes even though the e-brake can be a pain. Why exactly did they switch back to drums? also, slightly off topic, but what are the tuning differences. is there still some sort of abuse mode/torque management on a 5spd?

I think discs were stopped in 04, drums used in either 05 or 06, IIRC.
Check for repaint.
