It won't hurt the tranny. Go with a stall, 1-2 vette servo & OD sonnax servo, and shift kit. That will actually prolong the life of the tranny.

I thought that the 4.8-6.0's all used the same cam...at least they used to. Either way, if you're looking for more power, I wouldn't go with any stock truck cam. litreddevil's cam will yield you some nice gains in the upper RPM's, but you'll definitely need that stall to make it all work together. (ld's cam is the Comp 216/220 right?)

That cam will definitely want a stall and some expert tuning...with all that duration and a tight lsa, there is a ton of overlap, which you'll be able to hear through it's lopey idle characteristics. Those specs almost remind me of the GM Hot Cam (219/228 .525/.525 112).

BTW, I did some research in Will Handzel's "How to Build High Performance Chevy LS1/LS6 V-8's" book, and found some cam specs for ya:

00 and up 4.8 & 5.3 = 191/190 .457/.466 114
02-03 LQ4/LQ9 = 196/207 .467/.479 116

So as you mentioned, the 6.0 cam is a bit bigger than the 4.8/5.3 cam

I haven't run it in it's current configuration, but I went 15.6@89.5mph with this cam, tune, K&N FIPK, Gibson Shorties and Catback, and 33" tall BFG All Terrains (285/75R-16) The tires totally killed my 60' times (2.4).

Not sure what it'll run now, but my current tires are 31" tall, and I also have added StainlessWorks longtubes and catted y-pipe, 05 efans, and 160* stat. Swapped the K&N for a Volant w/ ram air, but I doubt there's any gain there. I'm sure I'm still in the 15's though...a mild verter would probably bring me into the high 14's.
