Amen to that! Mommy and Daddy never bought anything for me except for small things now and then and of course Christmas and birthdays but never cars and other high dollar items. I'm grateful for that too because it taught me to treat the things I do have with respect.

I had a 89 GMC jimmy that my dad gave me when i turned 16. It had 185k miles on it when I got it, but it was for damn sure the cleanest thing in the parking lot. I was proud of it and still wish I would have put a small block in it. It ran good and never had any major problems, the interior was like brand new. I worked for my truck, since I was 13 I had a summer job and saved all kinds of money up. I put over half down on my truck and have some simple *** payments for mine now, just trying to build credit up. I don't have a problem with parents buying their kids cars, I have a problem with the kids that get them. Around here most of them don't give a **** and tear the hell out of them. Let their friends spill **** in them and just all around beat on them. Thats how I made money for a year or better, detailing and shampooing cars. I was the only one in school to have a truck on 20s, and it was probably one of the top 5 in fast vehicles... (kinda sad).

I had a 81 camaro with a wippy *** 267ci motor when I turned 16 and now being 24 I have 2 kids, a house, 2 vehicles, and a bunch of other stuff that I had to work my *** off to get and keep. And like you onyx silverado, my kids are gonna work for what they want...none of this gimmie crap.

I got my first car when I mowed the lawn for my parents. I found the car under all the weeds. I had to make the thing work. Sure I only hit on 7 cylinders when I drove it to high school, I but Id be damed if I would ever abuse anything that I put that many sweat hours into.

Now I still have the car, and it puts out well over 500 dyno proven horsepower. Im on the fifth motor for that thing. But its my car, I built it! I earned it!

I think that mommy and daddy giving junior a nice car is the worst thing they can do for them. I see all the guys I went to high school with that had all the bad *** rides with pointless lifes now. They never had to work for anything when they were younger, now that they have to work they dont know how or appreciate it.

Sorry so long
