cutting off the cats shouldn't affect the tune. The only thing the rear o2's do is tell the computer if the cats are working or not and set the SES code.

certainly feels like its running like ****. it hesitates at wot, ive read its hesitating because the rear o2 is reading that the cats are overheating, so it dumps fuel, which causes the hesitation. i wanted to address this with sims, that... and my truck needs to be inspected, and im not sure of whether or not they`ll pass it with an ses light glaring at them. ive read that people dont understand why others went for sims, for me... it was the relative simplicity. tunes scare me, i dont even have a laptop, isnt one required to load a tune. i went to nelsons site... 375 bucks, jesus christ. this is another reason i was leaning towards sims. i cant just cough up that kind of money on a whim. im beginning to wish id left the cats in place.

just buy a wait4me tune for 158.10 and tell him the number one thing you want is to have the rear o2 sensors deleted out.

where do you live? Im sure someone on here lives near you and would be willing to delete the codes for you and do the other basic tuning for the cost of the credits to tune your truck and a case of beer. Are you anywhere near Panama City?

im in corpus christi texas. i recently had a laptop become available to me, and was looking into some tuning software... a lot more expensive than i thought it would be. i went to the wait4me site, its seems you have to contact this guy by phone. i dont like talking on the phone. id rather just select some options and order the **** online.as for the inspection, i have a friend with a scanner.. who ill get to clear the code. i hope the light stays off for long enough to get it inspected. as for the truck running like ****, i guess ill just deal with it until i have enough money and have done enough mods to justify a custom tune. thanks for your responses.

that dosent make sence to me, in engines class we briefly went ofer the cat converter and it should actually get hotter when it's properly burning fuel off

so i'd think that dumping in more fuel would cause it to burn even more

i dont think a computer program saying waste more gas and put more hydrocarbons in the air would pass the epa

i'm right there with ya tho about the running like crap because of rear o2's

i had rear 02 codes for a while, then i got simms, they helped but it still weird. one simm died, removed them and left unplugged, runs better than ever (who knows if the cats are really working)

besides i think i have an intake leak anyways lol

i dont claim to know what im talking about. what i read wasnt even pertaining to a truck,... but to the new corvette. i dont remember the exact magazine in which i read this, but the gist of it was that the test driver was experiencing some hesitation at the top of each gear. he was told the computer was sensing that the cats were overheating, and that it was dumping fuel to cool them off. ive been having similar problems since removing the cats,so i figured maybe thats what was going on with mine as well.
