Unhappy Water on driver floor board

I read some posts here about water on the driver side floorboard. Has anyone solved this problem? I am not sure yet if it comes in while driving in the rain, or sitting in the rain, but I am sure it is when it is wet out, or raining.

I have a 2001 Denali, does anyone know what the rubber gasket is that is under the rug, and padding on the driver's side? I suspect that it just might be that........since it almost seems like it is coming in from the bottom??

Bad time of year for this, especially when you live on the northeast, but then again, even worse if I lived in the midwest...

Any help would be appreciated.

I didnt know that this was a recurring problem but you could try to adjust your door striker to hold the door a little tighter.

I had a 2000 silverado and now have a 99 silverado and they both had the same problem in both trucks, the water is coming in from the door. Okay picture this the water runs down the inside of the door and then goes between the door and the door panel hits the rubber on the inside and goes in the truck. If you take off the door panel you will see the plastic sheet that goes between the panel and the door. I just put some tape on it all the way around the plastic and it stopped. You can try and see if this is it, by opening the door and having someone with a hose on the outside. Just let the water run going back and forth at the window seal on the bottom of the window. If the leak is there you should see the water coming in between the door and panel. Let me know if that is it.

Thanks for that info, that sounds like it could be it. One thing I did learn, I have not used the truck in four days, and it has not rained, the floor was almost dry. It's pouring today, and the floor is soaked, so I do know now that the water is not coming in from the bottom.

Thanks, and I will let you know what I find.

Thumbs up

Hey z7199,

the water was coming in from the bottm of the door, I opened the door while it was raining hard, and the bottom of the door was soaked, and I am sure that is where it was coming in from. I brought it to a local shop, since it was going for an oil change, and had a guy there take a look at it, he took the panel off, and said there was a cracked panel. He called GM and was able to order a $25 piece form GM called a f-deflector. He replaced it, and just called to say no water was coming in, and it is raining very hard right now..

I don't know how long it would have taken me to find that, but thanks to you, I had the local tech check the door.

If I did not the GMC dealer labor rate would charge a "Water Test" flat fee at $250, and $95 / per hour to locate the leak........so I guess what I need is your address....I think I may owe you some $$

Thanks alot.
