I currently have a 2003 Silverado with a 4.8 in it that has right at 130,000 miles on it. The only things that I have done to it are K&N Intake, true dual exhaust, flowmaster mufflers, cut out catalytic converters and performance tune. It is ok but I am ready for more. Because of the mileage on the current engine I do not want to start adding the expensive parts and would prefer to upgrade the entire engine which will also give me a bigger platform for future modifications. Any suggestions on where to get a decent engine? Has anyone ever done this? To my understanding the 6.0 would fit without any changes or preparations needed and I would only have to get it tuned after.

And yeah, it's pretty much a straightforward swap and tune. But I would still get with the guys who have a lot of experience with the swaps just to find out where to get what and what, of anything, you need that you don't have.
