Default Walbro Priming issue figured out ?

Im looking at replacing the oem intank with a 255 from walbro, did a search and keep finding threads about them being troublesome prime wise and having to crank 2 or 3 tries to start.

I would just assume keep the stocker if im going to encounter this issue. can anybody shed some light on which is the model to get ? i know the 255 has several sub modlels.

basically i want to upgrade it, but dont want to have the prime issue. any guys successfully swapped it out and not have any issues with this ?

id love to hear your advice.

Dan.

Installing a check valve inline with the pump eliminates the priming issue.

I believe I used something like that. Keeps the fuel from running back out of the lines once the pump shuts off.

I have never had an issue with mine. When the pump shuts off it drops maybe 5 psi then slowly drains.

My son had issues with a new Walbro in that the check on the outlet of the pump was bad and would drain pressure back to the tank immediately. If he waited more than the 3 sec that the pump runs to build pressure and stops, he would not have any pressure and the engine was hard to start.

We pulled the check out of the old Walbro that failed and switched into the new pump and all is well.
