Default Uggh, slow truck!! Need help.

I know this question has been asked before, but what do I need to do to wake up my '00 Z-71? I tried searching under "maintenance" and found a good thread before, but no luck now. The truck has 136k miles and is a turd! My '02 has more miles and makes my Z71 look like crap. I don't hardly drive the truck anymore and I know why. I'm going to take it in to my mechanic to replace the TB, intake, injectors, and maybe put on my 6.0L manifolds and delete the EGR. Dont' I have to "tune" out the EGR so it doesn't throw a code? I have a newer manifold, that doesn't have EGR. I plan on using Seafoam in the engine. What else should I do to make it gain back some power? I don't want to spend a lot of money on it. I plan in the next year or so to get a newer motor/tranny out of a wrecked truck. It will also get "routine maintenance" done again. Plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, tranny fluid and filter change, rear fluid and gasket change, and a new rear pinion seal But what else? The truck passes emissions, but would it be good advice to change the o2s and cats out?

A buddy of mine had a TA that was getting beat by Mustangs. He changed the fuel filter and did free mods. I made a big difference. I would do a little at a time so you can pin point the issue.

Yeah, I'm just going to do little by little. The motor still runs strong, but the "get up and go" is slow. I think it's a good start to replace the "sticking" throttle body. I have all those parts in the garage; the tb, injectors, fuel rails, intake, and manifolds.

Dont worry about changing the throttle body, if it is sticking, just clean it. Pull the intake back away from the throttle body and have someone press the gass pedal down and use some alcohol on a rag and wipe the inside of the throttle body down inside the butterfly, that will take care of the sticking issue.

Just as well give a 90 yr old fart 2 little blue pills. You'll get the same effect...Woooooooooo HOooooooo....uh cough cough...dead.

Seafoam, tune up parts and get a tune to get rid of all that really passive timing.

HAHAHA!! Thats funny. Hey... i didnt say it would last forever that way but it would be one hell of a reason to step up to a 6.0L!

The tune would definitely help though!

I had the same problem w/ my '99 Sierra, took it back to the dealer and they put a new tb on. They told me it was a design flaw? This one didn't do it until it was out of warranty.

Very funny Taylor!!! That's all I need, to be blowing up the Z71! Just cause it's paid for, doesn't mean I've got a bunch of money left over. I'm still paying for the '02.
