Default Truck won't start please help!!

Hello

I know many of you have a truck like mine.

2004 GMC 5.3L crew cab

turns on, but turn the key AND nothing

this is what i have tried:

1. known good battery
2. checked all fuses
3. checked all relay i know about
4. felt starter relay kick on and off as someone turned the key
5. tried moving the gear shift back, put it back in park the locks unlock, also tried neutral
6. tapped on the starter with a ratchet a few times

anything else too check, I'm thinking the starter or starter celinoid is gone ?

I parked it on tuesday (ran fine) and on Thursday it wouldn't start

Get a multimeter and check and make sure your getting good voltage to the starter. And take it from there.

check neutral safety on transmission those do go out sometime on the automatics everything will turn on but no crank might be a possibility but very slim chance

So what is your Main problem, no crank correct? Keep the t/s simple. Make sure your battery has 12 volts while trying to crank. If it's good check it at the starter. If you have good voltage to it then it's the starter.

If not get someone with a good scan tool and monitor the neutral safety switch or just jump it.

Also have this same problem with mine today!? havent drove the truck in a few days since I got the camaro. But same symptoms here, key turns but no crank, all lights come on, radio works, head lights come on, good voltage at the battery. waiting for the oldman to come home so he can check the starter while I turn the key

Just looking at the fuses isn't good enough. Make sure you check them with a meter. If you don't have a scan tool, you can rent one from an autoparts store for free.
