Default truck questions

i am trying to sell my lt1 TA and buy a z71, which i have wanted for a long time, and i have a couple questions, what is the 5.3 motor called? is it like ls1 or something. will parts that fit on the ls1 fit on the 5.3? is the 5.3 reliable, like many problems? thanks

there are two codes for the 5.3 one is the lm4 I cant recall the other.
All lsX based engine parts are interchangable, so that means you can take the heads off my truck and put them on your 5.7 and vica versa. hope this helps

the normal 5.3L is called LM7. as stated above the engine parts are interchangable between the ls1 and it's brother the 5.3. the engines do not have many short comings. the main problems with these trucks for many people are the gas level sensor. a lot of trucks the fuel level will go to empty then back to normal level.

just like with the fbody guys, these engines respond to mods very well. if you buy new, make sure to get the posi rear end with the largest numerical gear ratio available.

You can pretty much lump all of the lsx style motors in together with the denomination "GENIII"

The 5.3 seems to be a really popular engine. I am sure a couple people in the houston area would help with buying a truck. I think you can get the 6.0 now too! GOOD LUCK

they are very reliable. i don't think many people have had issues other than self caused issues.

I don't want to start an issue here but I think your better off with a 1500 unless you do a lot of towing. The fuel milage is better and the 5.3/ 4l60 left anywhere near stock will last several hundred thousand miles. Mine has well over 100k and I tow, haul, and race, often.
