truck over heating

If theres air in the system heat will actually come and go....ive found if i get it to point of overheating and shut it off for a few minutes it will typically cause the tstat to open and suck down a bunch of fluid.... Trick is to keep fluid going in....

Thanks for the inputs. It ended up being a trapped air. Ran the truck with cap off till all the air came out. Now i know or future reference
