My transmission died in my 1996 chevy tahoe 4x4.What year trucks can I get one out of?I am looking just to put used one in the truck.

At least 96-00

 

are you sure.I talk to a junk yard and they said only 96-97 would be the same.
But They didn't say why.

Pretty sure tahoes didn't change anything until 2000. They all use the 4l60. Trucks were the same from 96-98. So you should be able to look for those years at least.


But not positive if something did change.

 

i have a 4l60 from a 95 camaro that would most likely work, youd just have to use your output shaft and tail housing from your current tranny to convert it to 4x4. even have a 3000 stall torque converter to go with it. where are you located? the transmission is a fully built unit with only 3k miles on both.
