Default Trailer hitch is held on with 8 bolts...

2 on the bumper and 3 per side on the frame. However, on 1 of the bolts on the frame has a nut welded onto the frame. The other 2 you are expected to somehow hold the nut stationary while at the same time torquing the bolt to spec (92 ft.lbs). Who the fack designes this crap and has to make things difficult on me

Why are you taking it off?? I'd leave it on. It's good protection for when a dipshit rear ends you or someone walks too close to your truck. I can only imagine the shins my truck has destroyed That's what they get for walking too close.

Put a wrench on the nut and turn it till it hits the frame. The torsional force from you tightening the bolt will hold the wrench on the nut and against the frame leaving both your hands free to torque it down its not rocket science

that's what I did. Then you got to deal with the wrench getting stuck against the frame, and having to loosen the bolt to get the wrench free and then go thru the whole ordeal again. ASAP I'm getting those nuts welded to the frame.

My impact is calibrated to torque to exactly 92 ft lbs

Seriously its good to be cautious about things but if in doubt my little 3/8s impact does the charm on anything < 100 ft lbs.
