Default Trade-in or sell outright?

Im going to start looking for an 04 silverado ecsb 5.3, what are dealers giving on trade in? Ive never traded a vehicle before do they go by kelly blue book or do they just try to screw you royally. If I go the trade in route I am bringing the truck back to stock so my hood, grille, and bumber will be for sale, everything else I can switch over to new truck. If anyones interested in the front end stuff let me know.

usaully kely blue book trade in value. also that is very negotiable. they usually will screw you the first offer they make. don't tell them you have a trade in until you ahve settled on a price for a new truck. they will try to make as much money as possible.

always try your best to sell a truck outright. Trucks, especially ones like yours with the ex-cab and 5.3L V8, have a good resale value. Alot of people like those trucks.

The dealerships around Houston wanted to give me only $12-14K for my 2002 GMC (BWAHAHAHA!) but I sold it for around $18K. Be patient, don't take a loss on that truck.

Good Concern benpimpin. I am contimplating the same right now. I can get a sweet deal through my dealer on any new truck/car. I am looking at the 04 ccsb 1500. Those things look sweet in my opp. Good luck what ever you do.

I will never trade in a vehicle again, they try and f*ck you up the ***. If you do trade it in, go to kbb.com and price what trade in value would be so when they try to screw you, you can hand them the printed value. Good luck.

Thanks guys, I am going to look this weekend and see if anything catches my eye. I got an online price qoute from a local dealer for $20440 with a $27400 sticker price, that seems pretty good so far I am going to go check them out on Friday and see what all is optioned on the truck, I think its everything I want just a 4.8 and not the 5.3 but we will see.

If you do trade get it back to stock or as close as possible. The dealers do not care about customizing. They will stand a better chance of selling a stock truck than a custom one. Also the dealers have a different nada book than the one online or the one you (the consumer) can buy at a book store.
