Default todays long project

today me and my buddies stripped the truck of the decals (except for the body color moldings) and painted the bumper cover, valance, bowtie in the grill, and tailgate cap all body color. it really cleaned the truck up and looks nice. the decals came off easy with the help of 3M adhesive remover, blowdryer, and putty knife.

will try to get some pics up tomorrow.

I just did basically the same mods yesterday. Since my truck is black, I have a little less painting to do in the grill area, but that gray valence is gonna be black come tomorrow. I was surprised how much removing the emblems cleaned up the truck.

It took me about 2 hours to remove the emblems (not including the fresh coat of Zaino I have to apply now) and 15 minutes of so the remove the bowtie. Probably some of the best appearance mods I have made for the money (black paint is cheap and Zaino is expensive)

Also, I left the black and silver LS emblems behind the window on since my trck is black and silver.

i took off all the emblems except for my body moldings (they're body color so i left em). it didn't take us nearly that long to get the emblems off but we did leave a little adhesive on the drivers door so i gotta get that off cuz its already caked with dirt. no biggie though, shouldn't take more than a minute.

i don't think it took us that long to get the bowtie out either. we actually took the entire grill off though.

this was pretty much my first appearance mod but i'm happy with it seeing as i only spent 55 dollars for everything and still have a good bit of paint left. we plan on painting the plastic around the chrome in the grill and on the mirrors soon too.

and i want zaino too but definately don't have the $$$. but its worth it for you cuz NOTHING looks better than a clean black truck...except maybe a clean black fbod/vette.

How did the paint come out, does it have any runs or fish eyes in the paint. I did the same thing to my truck when I put the hood on. It does help clean the truck up a great deal. Only thing I didnt do is paint the bowtie. Need to because it throws everything of having a chrome front end and a gold bowtie(chrome suburban facia). Are you going to the July 14th meet, because if you are there is going to be just a few 4.8's so maybe afterwards when we head to the track we can line the up, just for play.

my paint came out pretty good. i only had one run from the clearcoat on my bumpercover and it was far enough back that the fascia covered it. i'm thinking of painting the black on my fascia body color soon. my friend did his tuesday and it came out good.

as for the meet, there is no way i could make that. i live way too far away. work, baseball, and the girlfriend/in-truck-governor take up all my time anyway. and if i'm not mistaken this 4.8 doesn't have a chance against yurs. i'd still line it up though...just for ***** and grins (my ***** and yur grins)

LOL...Dont put $$$ on it. When I have my 18's on my truck it really seems to slow it down, but yea its far from stock. This weekend I'm putting in a ST3500! Then it will be wicked!

i wanna put 18s on mine. i can deal with the slowing down (hopefully not too much) if they hook and save me a little rubber. i can't keep that back right tire planted with anything short of extreme *****-footing. i love stalling my truck up and launching it and i'm getting the hang of it but from time to time i'm still a smoke machine.

Been there before, one tire up in smoke, didnt enjoy it. Thats why I went to Pyle Bros in Baytown and got them to put a 4:10 gear and posi in the beast, it helped alot. Maid the launch pull alot harder...
What is your sixty foot like and do you flash stall or stall it up before hand?

(*****-footing)-LOL
