Default Thought I'd change the fuel filter

Well, lately I've been hearing a little noise coming from somewhere, kinda like when the CD is spinning in the radio, but it wasn't that. I was afraid it was the fuel pump, and with near 90k miles on it, I thought I'd change the filter today when I did the oil change. It took a whole 5 minutes, and I'm GLAD I did. I blew thru the new one to guage what kind of restriction it had, and then blew thru the old one after draining it and blowing it out with air. The difference was incredulous! It's a wonder I didn't burn the fuel pump up! I should have done this about 35k miles ago I'd bet! Anyone who has some miles on their truck, I'd recommend doing it! The filter was $10 bucks, and it took like 5 minutes.

Maybe they weren't selling enough fuel pumps

Seriously tho, I didn't have any problems, but could really tell the difference between blowing into both of them. That doesn't mean that the pump, which is forcing way more pressure than my mouth ( ) was struggling, but it can't be good for it. Also, I just changed the oil and filter, fuel filter, and washed and spray detailed it.....it should be about a second faster....or at least feel like it (in my head)

They're supposed to be a 100K mile filter, but it still seems a bit stupid to do that. It's supposed to cut down on operating costs........ Congrats on the easy, cheap fix, you'll get a few of those in your life. The clean ones always go faster

If mine wasn't the gay in-tank one,I'd change it every year or two. I do that on the old Civic and there's always some dirt in it.

GM did that because it's cheaper,IMO,like so many other "improvements".

I just bought a fuel filter, I'm planning on doing it this week.

can you just give me the 10 second walk through on changing it...

looks like 2 bolts hold the bracket then the two inline nuts...

How much gas comes out when you pull it off? do you have to plug the line??

thanks,

BTW i am also getting the same sound as you describe comming from under the cab/bed area where the filter is located

it wouldn't be so bad if GM would put a #$%DAMN access plate right over the fuel pump. It's not like that would be a bad idea! I couldn't even blow through my old filter. I was thinking how in the world is that pump pushing gas through it. Guess I don't blow as hard as you BAD.

What? you didn't see that one cumming? LOL Blow, cumming, LOL. Okay I am done.
