Yeah, thanks Torque Wrench, that TSB you posted in the other thread was very helpful. I checked out my mom's steering box todoay and sure enough it's the shitty one.
Now tell me why the service dept. at the dealership had never heard of that before.

Hey guys, thanx for all the kind words!

VanillaGorilla, I'd say the dealer you are in contact with is either not very concerned, trained or a mix of the 2, or they may be trying to give you the ol' "shuck & jive". Take a copy of the TSB to them and say "hey, fix it bitches.."...lol...or you may choose a diffrent way of saying that.

Dewmanshu, did you get the fax I sent you the other day? And also...Dewy, you'll be pleased to know that we got our letter on Friday afternoon.....and ALL 13 OF OUR FRANCHISES ARE SAFE! GM said our CFI and Sales were far too impressive and we need not worry about being cut. Awesome!!!

Again, thanx to all you guys for being concerned and thanx again to 2k4tahoe, Budhayes, VanillaGorilla and Dewmanshu for trusting in my expertise and showing appreciation. Anytime you guys need something...just let me know.

Are you talking about something other then the infamous upper intermediate shaft rattle, the telescoping formerly grease packed one? If so if a dealer has not ever heard of them rattling they must be cavemen living under a giant rock. I just take the old greasable shafts out and give them a good jerking and put them back in. Don't just stroke it, you have to over extend it but about an inch and it tightens it right up. No more rattle. Also I've seen a lot of lower column bearings rattle and its not because the bearing is bad but because its a sloppy fit in the steering column. Put a hose clamp around it and problem solved. I did all of the above to my dads 05 silverado and it still has a slight rattle to it at times. I gave up on it, he's deaf enough he can't hear it anyway.
