Tailgate cables finally snapped!!!

The dealer here has them in stock, but my truck doesn't show up in the system.

Now where did I put that recall notice.....

It's not the bending, The water gets in the ends of the cable when the gate is closed and then the water sits in the bottom of the U formed in the cables and then they rot away. I got the new ones (made in china stickers and all) and it looks like they sealed the ends up with silicone, So much for stainless cables.

Man we've been changng these damn cables for a couple months now. If a dealership tells you they dont have any, just go to another one.

Both mine broke with me standing on it holding ceramic tile. It dented the crap out of my tailgate and scarred the pee out of me. The dealership repaired the tailgate and put on the same old cables. Still no new ones in stock.

I must clarify this, bending kinking and pinching between the gate and box, I hear you on the water getting in from the ends, when the plastic coating ripped from getting pinched it was rusty as hell inside the sheath already! What a silly *** cheapo design. How about a sliding folding link of some sort. There must be an engineer with a better idea out there some where....oh ya there was and Chevy said.."COSTS TOO MUCH TO MANUFACTURE"...just speculating here
