Default Tailgate cables finally snapped!!!

WQell afeter taking my truck to the dealer twice for other services both times they told me "we don't have any in stock yet so maybe next time".
Well they both snapped yesterday at work when I crawled up on it with my stock muffler and tailpipe on my arms. I was loading it up to take it home, almost fell off the damm thing. Stupid stealership weenies. they will be getting a call for sure.
Anyone know where you can get some from??? Besides the stealership?

Mine snapped last week when I crawled into the back of my truck to pull my sandbags out of the bed. Both snapped at the same time in the same place. It looked like the cable in the middle had rotten away and the only thing holding was the outer coat of plastic. I guess I was lucky, I took it to the dealership and it was fixed free of charge in 5 minutes.

Mine too!!! both at once...weird. They were getting frayed from getting bent between the gate and box. I really think that is what screws them up in the first place.

Umm.. Maybe I should take mine in. I got the notice but I lost it. Does that matter? Do I need to bring the notice in when I go?

My cables broke last week also mhen my 15 yr old son sat on the tailgate to remove his boots after snowboarding. Coincidentally it happened on the same day i recieved a recall notice stating that the repairs havn't been made to my truck. I have a roll pan on my truck so when they snapped the tailgate went clear to the ground. Had my son been hurt i would have been really upset. If you havnt recieved the new cables do it right away as mine showed zero signs of corrosion .

No notice needed, and I would make sure that they are replaced. Some people have had damage to the tailgate becasue it fell on the bumper. They so send you a paper that you have to fill out and send back in rating customer service.

I took mine a few weeks ago to a local dealership. All I had done was the recall for the cables. I thought it would only take a few minutes. Took them slow a$$ people 1 HOUR!!! I couldn't believe it. I asked them when I got there if they would just give me the cables and let me install them. I was kinda in hurry. They said that they would have to install them. My dad was lucky enough that the dealership he went to just gave them to him.
