Default swapping complete drivetrain pretty much

This is gunna be my first swap by myself and I've never pulled motor/trans/transfercase out. If I remove the core support can I pull it all out intact? The only thing I'm gunna be reusing is the transfer case. I was just wondering if it will all come out together or do I need to pull the transfercase off first then pull the engine and trans together. I'm kinda nervous about doin this for the first time by myself. I've pulled a couple of engines out but never everything together.

Or can I take just the top bar out of the core supposrt and get it out?

Thanx fellas any tips advice anything will be greatly appreciated

Garrett

I would take the transfercase off the trans first. It would be a lot easier with 2 people: 1 to move the lift and the other to stabilize and tilt the engine.

I pulled and installed a 5.3/4l60e together with no problem. I didn't take off the core support, so you should be able to easily with it off.

I think I would remove the transfer case and trans if you have a lift. on the ground I would just do the case and pull out the engine and trans thru the top.

How high is your hoist to be able to clear the rad support?

It's just a regular engine hoist from Harbor freight. All the engines swaps I've done, I've never removed the support or the radiator. You just have to get the chain in the right place and make it the right length. I will say that pulling the engine/trans together was easier then pulling just the engine to me.

And you didnt take the oil pan off or anything? How much is your truck lowered? Im thinking maybe if I pull my tires and rotors off and set the frame down if I could avoid removing the front, since I really dont want to do that.

Nope didn't take nothing off. I pulled the engine /trans combo for a buddy of mine and his truck is stock 2wd height. Heres a pic from Krambos build.
