Default Swap begins

Started my 5.3 to 6.0 swap today. For those guys that say they can do it in a couple days my hat is off to you. I'll be lucky if it ever runs again. I might get it out tomorrow. Got to getting the starter un-wired today and my patience ran out. Got tired of coolant dripping in my ear. A lift would definately help.

FWIW I ordered by gaskets from Thunder Racing. The cam swap kit and an oil pan gasket. Did not get front cover gasket in the cam swap kit. Instead of a front crank seal I got the rear seal. The oil pan gasket was bent up pretty good but I got it straight enough to work. It better not leak or I will be pissed. Gave them a call and of course they would send new ones right out but would't get here till next week. A few days to late.. least they are going to pay me back for the missing stuff.

I'm whooped and need a beer.

Damn man, thats not too encouraging. Ive never done a swap before, but my buddy thats helping has done a few in camaro's. We are hoping to get the Vortech off, 5.3 out, 6.0 in, and STS kit in a weekend . I guess I better plan on having it down for a little longer

Good luck man. It's not that bad. If you can take it off you can put it back on. just be sure you put bolts back in holes they came out of and or keep everything together the best you can when you find a place in the shop to lay it. Antifreeze does wonders for loosing up that stubburn ear wax

Don't sweat it. I'm older, slow and fat. It ususally takes me twice as long to do everything.
